It all started in 2016 when a photographer asked to take her photo backstage at a fashion show. This inconspicuous image, which was then sold to Condé Nast and used in an article about facial oils, has become a hex on Schott’s professional and personal life. She has had no control over how her face was used, no say in where it was distributed, and has never profited from the image.
